In two or three thousand years, how will our writing systems be seen? Will they still be in use? Will our languages be extinct?
If any metal signs or bumper stickers from our current times resurface in an archaeological dig in AD 5015, do you think they'll know what "DANGER HIGH VOLTAGE" means? Will they assume it was some sort of temple?
This is an interesting question to pose indeed. How will we be viewed? What conclusions will future historians come to, if we have some sort of apocolypse that leaves only bits and pieces of our current history behind?
I'd like to think they'd be in awe at our technological advancements; instantaneous global communication, laser eye surgery, mapping of the human genome.
But, I guess the Romans were pretty proud of their heated baths, so it's all relative.
